Arizona Theatre Company COVID-19 Updates

July 17, 2020

Dear Arizona Theatre Company Family and Friends,

First, thank you for your continued support of Arizona Theatre Company. As we navigate the challenges that COVID-19 presents for our communities, Arizona Theatre Company is committed – more than ever – to bringing you opportunities to share in the creativity of theatre in the safest ways possible. Although theatres across the country are dark, ATC’s creative light is shining brighter than ever as we pivot to adapt and address this new normal.

At the forefront of all our planning is you, our ATC family, and the desire to reimagine theatre that connects us in healthy ways in the midst of a constantly changing world. We couldn’t make it through this without your support and investment in our future!

Returning on stage in a healthy way. Ensuring the well-being of our patrons, actors, staff and volunteers is, and will remain, our top priority. Our current plans call for a Mainstage six-show season that will kick off in January 2021. Six-show subscribers will receive tickets for all six shows once dates are set. We’re working through details and dates, and look forward to sharing additional information as we have it.

We understand that you may not be ready to come back to the theatre, and all Mainstage plays will be professionally recorded with three cameras on Opening Night. This means that whether you’re in the theatre or at home, your tickets will let you experience the plays. If you feel unsafe in attending during the run of the show, you will be sent a link to watch the taped production.

Theatre outside the theatre. Arizona Theatre Company is committed to producing world-class theatre and sharing stories in multiple ways. Now and in the coming months, ATC is presenting a series of digital content, virtual workshops and outdoor musical offerings, including some exclusively for subscribers and donors. From hearing a new musical in an out-of-doors concert hall to holiday music in a garden, ATC is partnering to provide events that audiences can enjoy throughout the Fall.

We are embracing the pause and reimagining theatre in these circumstances presented to us, and we can’t wait to look out onto the faces in our audiences and share the remarkable ATC live-theatre experience again.

Stick with us! There are great things to come! You are an integral part of the Arizona Theatre Company family, so thank you for making the work we do possible. This is the first in a series of communications with you about the 2020-21 season, and we pledge to consistently communicate with you. Please consider supporting us as we navigate these challenging times.

I am. You are. We are. Arizona Theatre Company.

Ever grateful,

Dear Arizona Theatre Company Family and Friends,

As you may have heard by now, Governor Ducey has issued new guidelines to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) by restricting public gatherings and encouraging social distancing. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the final two productions of the season and education programming.

  • The final show of our season, Women In Jeopardy! will move to the first show of the 2020/2021 season. My 80 Year Old Boyfriend will become a special add-on event that subscribers will have exclusive first access to. More details to follow.
  • The Legend of Georgia McBride will come back and be the first show in the 2021/2022 season.
  • The education program “Summer on Stage” will return in 2021.

This is a pause and reschedule. We will once again enjoy these fantastic theatrical offerings – just a few months later.

While these details will be figured out in the upcoming weeks, we remain grateful to our staff, our artists and to our patrons who have handled this with such grace – it is amazing the support Arizona has shown for its State Theatre. Thank you.

Now, we turn our focus to the 2020/2021 season. More information about the exciting line up will be shared soon. We’ll also continue sending as-needed communications via email and will keep our website and social media platforms updated.

We are all in this together and we recognize that this situation will affect all of our lives in significant ways. Thank you for your patience as we reschedule your tickets and navigate these uncharted waters. There are several options for ticket holders and we will be in touch to find just the right one for you. We hope that you consider donating your tickets or transferring them to a future production to help us weather this storm. If you are a ticket holder to The Legend of Georgia McBride or Women in Jeopardy!, please fill out this contact form so our Box Office staff can assist you.
